| Emmanuel Burdmann, MD, PhD Sao Paulo, SP BRAZIL Dr. Emmanuel A. Burdmann attended medical school at the University of São Paulo Medical School, São Paulo, Brazil and completed residency in Internal Medicine and fellowships in Nephrology at Hospital das Clínicas, University of São Paulo Medical School, São Paulo, Brazil. He received his Doctorate in Nephrology from the University of São Paulo Medical School and did a post-doc research fellowship at the Nephrology Division of the Oregon Health Sciences University, Portland, Oregon. Dr. Burdmann is the past-president of the Latin-American Society of Nephrology and Hypertension and is currently the president of the Brazilian Society of Nephrology. His current academic position is as Associate Professor of Nephrology at the São José do Rio Preto Medical School, where he is responsible for the care of the AKI patients and for the Post-Graduation Program. Dr Burdmann serves as Associate-Editor in the Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology and in Nephrology, Dialysis, and Transplantation. He is member of AKIN and KDIGO. His research interests centers on acute kidney injury and drugs and animal venoms nephrotoxicity.
